Boston Celtics 2021/2022 Season Preview – Can A Leprechaun Take a Leap?
Bad Men, Bad Takes – Season 1, Episode 4
Can Jaylen Brown take another leap this season upon his return from surgery? That’s the number one question on the BMBT boys’ minds.
The answer? That depends on who you ask.
Rafe believes the fortunes of the Celtics this season rest squarely upon Brown’s shoulders, with the two-way wing needing to take a leap akin to that of teammate Jayson Tatum in order for the Celtics to be true contenders in the East.
“I think Tatum has taken that step up, it’s Brown’s turn now. I think the fortunes of this team rest on him being able to take that leap”.
Hunter doubled-down on the need for Brown to continue to elevate his game, saying “I’m hoping Brown can take a leap to an All-NBA Second Team style of season”.
Beyond Brown, though, there are plenty of new pieces on this roster, including former Sixth Man of the Year winner Dennis Schroder. The team remained divided, however, on whether the former Lakers guard should start, or reprise his role off the bench that saw him win the award in Oklahoma City.
“I’d have him off the bench as a 6th man – it’s a contract year for him, he’ll be motivated to perform well in that role I would think” Ben said, but Rafe disagreed, despite noting a potential issue.
“If I was the Celtics, I’d start him, but I’m not sure they have much off the bench to keep the scoreboard ticking over if he’s in the starting line-up”.
