New York Knicks 2021/2022 Season Preview: Competent Again

Bad Men, Bad Takes – Season 1, Episode 13

The Knicks returned to the NBA Post-Season for the first time since the 2012/2013 season last season, and for Rob, it’s all about doubling down on that effort for their 2021/2022 campaign.

Perhaps those expectations are a little small given the size of the New York market and the thirst the fans have for this franchise to advance further in the post-season following a period of absence, but simply being a functional franchise is something this team hasn’t been for the better part of a decade, and, for Rob, that should be the focus.

“I’m not really worried about a win-loss record for this season, but it’s about keeping New York Knicks relevant because the NBA is much better when they are up and about”, he said.

Ben was a little more optimistic about the season following the acquisition of Kemba Walker, Evan Fournier and the expected return of Mitch Robinson, stating he believes the Knicks are in the box seat to go deeper than last season.

“I think they are in the box seat to do what they did last season, but potentially go further in the post-season with their off-season acquisitions”.

When discussing the potential impact of the Fournier and Walker signings, Ben was high on the perimeter combination and their potential impact on the spacing for Randle to operate on the inside.

“I think the spacing of the floor is the key with Fournier. It helps bring defenders out and allows Randle space inside, and then they will have Kemba to kick the ball back out to if they need”.
